Hours
To become a cosmetologist, most states require that you fulfill a certain amount of education and training. Cosmetology is a very comprehensive program that can cover many different topics and techniques when it comes to beauty. Although cosmetology is comprehensive, the hour requirement is usually much less time than it would take you to graduate from a traditional four year college. In the state of Oklahoma there is a 1500 hour requirement that must be fulfilled before you can get your cosmetology license. This means you could be done with school and working in the industry in as little as 50 weeks.School

Another step in getting your cosmetology license in Oklahoma is taking the exams that the state requires. There are two exams or parts that you will have to take before getting your cosmetology license. The first is the written portion and the second is the practical exam.Written Exam
The written exam portion is a 100 question test that will cover the following topics:- Sanitation, disinfection, and safety
- Shampooing and conditioning hair
- Haircutting and hair styling
- Weaving and braid extensions
- Chemical texture services
- Haircoloring
- Skin care

- Licensing and regulation
Practical Exam
The practical exam is more hands on and gives the students the opportunity to actually perform the services to show that they are competent and capable. The services that the practical exam covers are:- Pre-exam set up and disinfection
- Manicure services
- Facial service
- Chemical services
- No-base virgin relaxer
- Bleach retouch
- Shampoo service
- Hair shaping service
- Permanent waving service
- Blow drying and thermal curling service
- End of exam disinfection
Katie is a master instructor for the Esthetics program as well as a JBC graduate and alumna. In class, Katie believes learning the fundamentals and foundations of esthetics is key in not only passing your state board exam, but going out into the workforce with confidence. She is dedicated to teaching her students all that is necessary to know in order to become an educated and successful skin therapist. She likes to motivate her students by providing a fun and unique learning experience. When you’re having a bad day, class is the best place to be!
Sabrina Maynard is a Financial Aid Specialist at Jenks Beauty College. Prior to joining the team of Jenks Beauty College in 2021, she was a Financial Aid Specialist at a previous college and has 8 years of experience in financial aid. She received her Master’s Degree in School Administration from Northeastern State University. She has a passion for education and takes great pride in assisting others with pursuing a higher education. Sabrina enjoys spending time with her family, camping, going to concerts and traveling.
Christopher T. Westmoreland is the Registrar for the Jenks Beauty College. Prior to joining the team at Jenks Beauty College Christopher worked for the Veterans Administration and Northeastern State University. This has given him an insight into higher education and the college experience.
Jamison White is a master educator with 25 years’ experience. He hold two master instructor licenses in Barbering and Cosmetology. He has worked as a mentor, Salon Manager and stylist behind the chair. He also specializes in hair restoration as he was a salon supervisor for Hairclub for 5 years. He is very passionate about teaching students and sharing his experience to provide them with a more in depth learning curriculum.
Brooklyn is a Licensed Esthetician and Esthetician Instructor. After attending Jenks Beauty College as a student, she’s thrilled to be able to return as an instructor and instill the skills and knowledge to current students that was imparted on her. Her passion and the willingness to learn new things in the ever-changing field of Esthetics is what drives her to be a better Esthetician and instructor for her student body.
Karlette Morrison is the Jenks Beauty College Nail Technology Department Head, that holds a CND Grand Master Certification, who educates students on the fundamentals of Nail Technology, as well as current nail trends and the standards of Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Karlette has been in the Nail Technology industry for 15+ years and is a licensed Nail Tech working in a prominent Tulsa salon where she had the privilege of taking care of two reigning Miss Oklahoma title holders.

Brittany Lawton is our OPI certified Nail Technology instructor and Department Head. She is a licensed cosmetologist who loves helping people become passionate about nails. Brittany enjoys making her class fun, challenging, and exciting daily for her students and is outside of the box thinker who likes to break the barriers of normal nails. Her students are encouraged to do things that they can’t do until it becomes something they can!

Pre Robertson is a Master Instructor at Jenks Beauty College. Along with her broad knowledge and experience in Cosmetology, Barbering, Hair Braiding, Hair extensions, Natural Hair Care and Makeup Artistry, she holds an Associate’s degree in Cosmetology/Barbering and over a decade of experience in the beauty industry.
Leonda Clements, is the Director of Financial Aid at Jenks Beauty College. Leonda brings with her 30+ years’ experience in the finance field, with expertise in financial aid, student account management, financial literacy as well as default management, veteran education benefits as well as customer service.
Shay Ryan is the Jenks Beauty College Dir. of Education. Shay has proudly been in the beauty industry for 25 years. Shay is the owner of a Rustic Elegance Salon & Spa located in The Farm Shopping Center. Shay’s passion is within her students. “Seeing them build confidence and having light-bulb moments is what it’s all about.” I love our industry because it allows us to be free. Free to explore all avenues of creativity. We have the opportunity to never stop learning. While not serving our students. Shay enjoys spending time with family and friends.
Tonya Pettit is a native Oklahoman from Muskogee. This “Okie from Muskogee” has a sincere passion watching students succeed while identifying the gifts that they have. Tonya got her start in higher education working in Financial Aid beginning in 2008. It’s her personal mission to teach students how affordable college really is and educating students on how to be financially responsible. Tonya’s family has strong ties to the cosmetology industry. Tonya is a third generation cosmetology school graduate. On the side, she is an avid baker and treats maker for special events. In her home life, she is a proud mom of an amazing son that is working on his Ph.D. and is also an award-winning bodybuilder.
Liane Daniel is a Master Instructor at Jenks Beauty College. She was born in Germany and graduated from Beauty College in 1982 in her hometown of Schweinfurt. Liane was active in her salon business for nearly a decade and earned multiple accolades including “Multiply International Hair Competitions” in which she received 1st and 2nd Place in Haircutting and Up-Do’s. 
Rhonda Williams is Jenks Beauty College’s Managing Master Instructor. Rhonda has devoted her entire adult life advocating for the cosmetology field and serving students. A Sapulpa native, Rhonda has been married to her high-school sweetheart for over forty years. Rhonda has one daughter that is also a member of the beauty industry. Rhonda has been employed and serving students at Jenks Beauty College for thirty years, and even more in the field at large.
