Jenks Beauty College Wants to Say Thank You.

We want to make sure that all of our partners, students, and staff know how much we appreciate them. The holiday season only comes around once a year, and we want to take this time to let everyone know what they mean to us!

Here are a few things we are grateful and thankful for this year:

Our Students

Without our students, we wouldn’t have anything to keep us going. Thank you 2016, and past, students!

Our Staff

Our students wouldn’t thrive without our dedicated staff! It takes a special type of leader to take their knowledge and pass it on to the future generation of beauty professionals. We couldn’t do this without you!

The Beauty Industry

The industry is booming. We are grateful that we live in a time that we can pursue our passions and make a living. We think it is amazing how much you can accomplish in 2016 as a hairstylist, hair colorist, hair designer, makeup artist, or any other beauty professional who works hard. The industry has grown so much, especially for cosmetologists, barbers, and hairdressers, and it only continues to grow!

Trends

It might seem silly to say that we would like to give thanks to this year’s trends, but we really are. Without hair and fashion trends, our ability to be creative in our careers would be limited. We want to thank grey hair, cotton candy colored hair, highlighter, and cut creases for making a statement this year.

Makeup Artistry

This year, we’ve seen makeup artistry flourish as a highly-respected profession. We want to acknowledge the fact that makeup artistry is, in fact, an art. You have to take the time to learn the craft well. We love makeup artists! We also love all the different makeup items that have hit the shelves this year, from rainbow highlighter to unicorn brushes.

Our Community

The Oklahoma community is an amazing place. We want to recognize them as a part of our success. Our students have the opportunity to practice on real clients because our community allows them to! Our guests are always one of our top priorities. To help give back to our local community, make sure to check out our blog on all the things you can do this giving season.

What are you thankful for this year? Make sure to tell is in the comments below!

Love Where You Live

The holiday season is almost in full swing. There are many opportunities to give and receive gifts from family and friends, but have you given back to your local community yet? Jenks and Tulsa have several volunteer and charity events happening throughout the months of November and December. Get ready to fill other’s hearts with joy (and yours too)! Here are a few of the events you can participate in:

Bell Ringing in Tulsa

Interested in raising money for The Salvation Army and The Boys & Girls Club of Metro Tulsa? Volunteer to become a bell ringer on Saturdays from November 17-December 24. The donations go to the surrounding Tulsa community. See more information about volunteering here.

Christmas for Kids

Help sort and organize gifts for kids in the Tulsa foster care system. This volunteer opportunity is hosted by OKDHS Christmas for Kids Program. This event starts on December 2 and goes until the 21st. Ready to make a difference in a child’s life? Volunteer here.

Reading Partner

From now until May of 2017, you can help Tulsa Legacy Charter School students learn to read at their grade level. As a volunteer, you could be a part of a child’s learning foundation. See their volunteer page for more info on signing up.

Hospice Friend

Assist terminally ill patients by being a companion. Rivercross Hospice is looking for volunteers in Tulsa to spend time with patients doing things like reading aloud, running errands, making phone calls, and doing household chores. You can also help them do fun activities like painting their nails and writing letters. Find out how to sign up and integrate this event into your schedule by checking out their volunteer page.

Foster an Animal

Animals in Tulsa are looking for couches to sleep on! ARF’s German Shepherd Rescue and Dooert.com are looking for loving homes to house foster animals. See how you can be a part of this great opportunity in Tulsa.

Hospice Volunteer

Miller Hospice is on the hunt for loving volunteers who can assist end-of-life patients and families with everyday tasks and events. If you want to help a Tulsa family handle the stress of end-of-life care, this might be the perfect match. See their event page to sign up.
